Pectus Excavatum Surgery

تجهیزات ناس جهت جراحی بیمار سینه قیفی

This surgical procedure using the Nuss technique was first performed in 1990 by Dr. Donald Nuss. During the surgery, a thoracoscope is used to visualize the inside of the chest, and the depression of the chest is corrected with specialized instruments. This deformity puts pressure on the heart and lungs and can cause respiratory problems for the patient. This condition, known as Pectus Excavatum, occurs due to the inward displacement of several ribs and the sternum.

The instruments used for this surgery were purchased and imported to Iran for the first time by Zanjireh Omid, and made available to the medical team of Zanjireh Omid.

The surgery using this new technique was first performed in December 2012 by Professor Keyvan Mazda at Zanjireh Omid. These instruments are now manufactured in Iran, and this type of surgery has become common in the country.
