Code of Ethics of Zanjireh Omid
Zanjireh Omid is committed to delivering its services in accordance with the following ethical principles:
Article 1 – Ethical Principles Related to Patients
- The primary mission of Zanjireh Omid is to provide healthcare and medical services to children who, due to the lack of technical facilities and financial resources in their country of origin, are unable to receive appropriate care.
- Zanjireh Omid provides care and support to children in need who are unable to afford the costs of treatment for their medical conditions.
- Healthcare and supportive services are provided to children without any discrimination based on gender, religion, race, or nationality.
- Services are delivered in a manner that respects human dignity and is consistent with cultural, religious, and social values and beliefs.
- Zanjireh Omid provides specialized medical training for healthcare professionals to ensure that pediatric physicians are able to deliver treatment competently and in accordance with professional standards.
- Zanjireh Omid facilitates access to medical and technical knowledge, equipment, consumable supplies, and necessary resources in countries where hospital infrastructures are inadequate or inefficient.
- Zanjireh Omid International actively contributes to facilitating the development and improvement of hospital infrastructures in order to meet the healthcare needs of children in the relevant countries.
- Zanjireh Omid supports children’s access to education and learning opportunities through assistance programs aimed at promoting their balanced and holistic development.
- Services are provided to patients with honesty, fairness, courtesy, and compassion.
- Medical services are delivered based on justice, equity, and the clinical priorities of patients.
- Zanjireh Omid is committed to participating in the protection and advocacy of children’s rights.
- Adequate information and education are provided—at a level appropriate to the understanding of the patient or their caregiver—to promote self-care and enhance patient safety.
Article 2 – Ethical Principles Related to Fundraising
- Ethical principles are strictly observed in presenting the organization and communicating its mission and objectives to donors for the purpose of fundraising, including refraining from any form of exaggeration, misrepresentation, or deception regarding goals, intentions, operational methods, or organizational identity.
- Transparency in relationships with donors is promoted, with a particular commitment to adhering to the ethical charters and standards of social and humanitarian organizations.
- Donations and financial contributions are received in accordance with the internal principles, rules, and regulations of Zanjireh Omid.
- All members of the organization are committed to having no personal interest in the organization’s transactions or procurement processes, and to refraining from any personal use, allocation, or benefit from the organization’s revenues, facilities, or resources.
- All legal, financial, and organizational relationships between Zanjireh Omid and other organizations or institutions are conducted in a clear and transparent manner.
- Employees and volunteers are required to observe confidentiality, impartiality, adherence to ethical principles, and commitment to the organization’s humanitarian objectives, and to avoid any form of conflict of interest.
Article 3 – Ethical Principles Related to Personnel
- Courtesy, respect, justice, and fairness—based on ethical, humanitarian, and professional standards—are observed in all interactions with the organization’s staff, including both employees and volunteers.
- All personnel are treated without any form of discrimination based on gender, religion, race, or other personal characteristics.
- The organization is committed to protecting its staff and volunteers from any form of physical or psychological harm within the workplace.
- Zanjireh Omid makes every effort to support individuals who report violations of the organization’s Code of Ethics. Ethical violations may be reported without fear of retaliation or loss of employment, and the organization is committed to protecting the rights of whistleblowers.
- The organization is committed to complying with all principles and conventions of the International Labour Organization (ILO) that have been approved by the Islamic Republic of Iran, including the Convention concerning the Prohibition and Elimination of the Worst Forms of Child Labour.
- Employees and volunteers consider respect, kindness, and love toward the children supported by Zanjireh Omid as a core responsibility and make every effort to uphold these values.
Article 4 – Other Ethical Principles of Zanjireh Omid
- All ethical considerations related to the organization’s projects and programs are identified and observed. Prior to the design and implementation of projects and programs, potential ethical risks—including fraud, misrepresentation, and deception of stakeholders—are identified and effectively managed.
Zanjireh Omid engages constructively with national and international charitable organizations, avoids competition with them, and seeks collaboration and alignment with other institutions in pursuit of shared humanitarian goals.
